BUSINESS TIME

You sit close to her in a regional bus

you break the white chocolate

a truck with lettering passes

on the cold white wall

your common sense scratches

“wholesale trade for profit”

everybody already knows

but a searching command distresses them

FALSE AIR &

CHOCOLATE!

That moment before I put my pants on!

Standing here

In my underwear

Getting a bit angry

About things that

Don't really matter

Or even exist for

That matter,

And I think

What does it matter?

What is the matter?

Is it the matter

That we are all

Made up of?

Is that the matter

That actually matters

At all?

I am unsure.

As I was never quite good

in high school science class

And having quit my university

Philosophy classes

After just a month.

I mean who can handle

Existentialism at nine

In the morning.

I am still

Standing here

In my underwear

And I am

Still a bit upset

But know now

That the matter fucking

With the grey matter

Of my mind

Does not actually

Matter at all.

Curiosity test!

On the left a cheap almond pasted cake

on the right a cup of black coffee with sugar

I put four points on paper

calling it a house

calling it a newspaper

draw a circle between these points

a girl cycles beyond the house

looks at the house

behind her a photographer cycles

he doesn’t look

in the room it smells of giraffe

on the floor a CD by Snow Patrol

on the floor a lolly of tallow

the UFO light is out

the birds stay in their cages

a short conversation about the advantage

of extra long screwdrivers

what else do you care about?
